Dr. Fernández Sousa-Faro was named President of Zeltia in 1985, from whence he founded Noscira in 2000.

He has 25 years of experience in pharmaceutical and chemical companies, including ICI-Pharma, Shell-Research, and Antibiotics. In addition, he has occupied various positions in investigation and education in Spain, Europe, and the United States, among others a Biochemistry Chair at the Complutense University of Madrid and the University of  Santiago de Compostela.

Dr. Fernández has to his credit an extensive list of publications and owns various patents in the fields of biochemistry, antibiotics, and molecular biology. He earned his licentiature in Chemical Sciences and holds a doctorate in Biochemistry (Complutense University of Madrid).

Belén Sopesén, CEO of Noscira (Zeltia Group), holds a PhD in Pharmacy from the Complutense University of Madrid. She also completed the Management Development Programme at IESE Business School in Madrid. Belén’s career began at SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceuticals in the UK (now GSK), where she collaborated on developing g experimental models related to neurological processes (1993). She then conducted basic research basic research for her doctoral thesis (1994-1998). Belén moved into clinical research in 1997, when she joined Spanish CRO Cibest (currently SGS Group). She left the company in 2001 when she co-founded Qualysite Consultancy S.L., specialised in project management in the areas of clinical research, training, audits and the implementation of quality management systems for the pharmaceutical and health industry. As the ´company’s Technical Director, Belén worked with public and private entities and a wide range of pharmaceutical multinationals and CROs. In April 2005, she joined Noscira as Director of Quality Assurance, and in June of 2006, she was appointed Managing Director.

Dr. Teodoro del Ser graduated in Psychology (1973), Political Sociology (1974) and Medicine (1976), did a Doctorate in Medicine (1987) and worked as Associate Lecturer in Neuropsychology (1986-1989) at Complutense University, Madrid.

He specialised in Neurology in the “12 Octubre” Hospital in Madrid (1977-1981) and undertook post-doctorate studies in Neurology, Neuropathology and Neuropsychology in the “Clinique Psychiatrique Universitaire Bel Air“ (Geneva), “Unité de Recherches Neuropsychologiques et Neuroliguistiques” (Paris), and the Department of Neurological Sciences at the University of Western Ontario. After 1987 he worked as a Clinical Neurologist and Head of the Neurology Section in the Severo Ochoa Hospital in Leganes (Madrid). He has undertaken clinico-pathological studies into vascular dementia and dementia with Lewy bodies, epidemiological studies into dementia and mild cognitive impairment, clinical and neuro-psychological studies into Alzheimer’s disease, post-stroke dementia and other dementias.

He has taken part in the design and performance of several clinical trials on Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia and dementia with Lewy bodies. He joined Noscira in December 2004 as Director of Clinical Development.

Teresa León Colombo

Dr. Teresa León Colombo graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 1992 and got her doctorate in Medicine in 2004 at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.

She specialized in neurology (MIR program) at the University Hospital La Princesa in Madrid (1993-1996) Between 1997-1999 she worked as a private practice neurologist in Madrid and as a co-investigator in several clinical trials also at the Hospital de La Princesa.

She began her career in the pharmaceutical industry in 1999 by joining the Medical Affairs Department in GlaxoSmithKline, later in 2002 she joined Pfizer Medical Department where she was in charge of various drugs in the neuroscience area. For two years she was the leader physician in the co-promotion with Eisai and donepezil. In 2006, Teresa was appointed Head of the Neuroscience/ Pain and Inflammation Therapeutic Area in Pfizer Spain. In that same year she was promoted to Medical Director and moved to Pfizer headquarters in New York. During the past five years, she has developed her international pharmaceutical career in Pfizer Medical Department being focus in the design and implementation of clinical trials, publication committees, leading the pregabalin regional medical group and managing virtual teams.

In the last quarter of 2010, she joined Noscira as Head of Medical Affairs.

Maite Mateo
She holds a Pharmacy Degree from the University Complutense of Madrid and an Executive MBA from the Instituto de Empresa (IE Business School)

She joined the pharmaceutical industry in Smithkline Beecham Pharmaceuticals Medical Department. Since 1991 she has developed her professional career in Regulatory Affairs in Eli Lilly & Company and Pharma Mar, focusing in regulatory planning and European submissions and supporting the clinical development of new products in various therapeutic areas. Between 1995 and 2001 she joins the European headquarters of Eli Lilly in Surrey, United Kingdom, being responsible for the regulatory management of various projects in infectious diseases, growth and bone metabolism areas

At institutional level she has worked for the European Commission as Pre-accession adviser in a Phare program project aimed to support the adoption of the EU pharmaceutical legislation in the new member states (Warsaw, 2003-2004) and more recently in the Efficacy and Safety Sector of the European Medicines Agency (London, 2010-April 2011).

In May 2011 she joined Noscira in her current position.

Alfonso Hurtado de Mendoza graduated in Economics and Management Sciences from CUNEF(Complutense University, Madrid). He has a Masters in Financial Markets from the European School of Finance (ICADE).

 

Since 1990 most of his professional career has been in the banking sector in the areas of Internal Auditing and Management and Strategy Planning and Control, reaching a position on the Management Committee of Credit Suisse Personal Finance in Spain.

 

Thereafter he worked as Finance Director of the Inspection and Technical Assistance Division of the Applus Group, a leading company in the Certification sector.

 

He joined Neuropharma in June 2008 as Director of Finance and Capital Markets.

María Pilar Redondo graduated in Pharmacy from Alcala de Henares University, and has a Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Technology and Industrial Pharmacy as well as in Drug Analysis and Control.

She began her career in the pharmaceutical industry in 1992 when she joined the Spanish subsidiary of Pfizer where she undertook various positions in its Technical Division, in both the Quality and Production departments. From 1996 she was based in Farmasierra plc, a company formed after an MBO of Pfizer’s production division. At Farmasierra she held various positions, including the position of Development Director, in which she carried out the setting up and initiation of development activities, including development services for third parties. In addition, she was in charge of Technology Transfer projects for new manufacturing clients, where she took part in different process implementation programmes taking in a wide diversity of pharmaceutical dosage forms focused on different markets, both within and outside the EU. In 2001, she moved to the Spanish subsidiary of Schwarz Pharma as Head of Pharmaceutical Technology where she was in charge of the galenic development and analysis, as well as development services for clients.

In January 2005 she joined Noscira where she has been Head of Pharmaceutical Technology since November 2007.

Juan Manuel Domínguez obtained his PhD degree at the Complutense University of Madrid, where he was honoured with both Graduation and Doctorate Extraordinary Awards in 1987 and 1992 respectively.

During his stay in Academia he became skilled in enzymology and protein biochemistry and afterwards he moved to the pharmaceutical industry, working for 16 years on research in the early stages of the drug discovery process. He joined Glaxo in 1992 as Investigator of the Biochemistry Department, focused on the discovery of novel antiinfective agents as well as on the determination of their mechanism of action. In 2001 he was appointed Manager of the Assay Development Department in GlaxoSmithKline, responsible for the biochemical characterization of therapeutic targets, the design of biological assays for ultra-high throughput screening and the execution of mode of action studies on selected hits. Dr Dominguez has led international projects involving scientists who were expert in several disciplines and has worked in laboratories outside Spain (UK, USA, Sweden, Italy, Switzerland and Germany). In October 2008 he joined Noscira as Manager of the Drug Discovery Department.
